Claybourne McGregor Consulting Ltd (CMG) is seeking a Technical Business Analyst with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience to join the team in a dynamic, rapidly expanding business. The position is based in Sunbury-upon-Thames, Middlesex and Kingston-upon-Thames in Surrey. In your role as Technical Business Analyst, you will work with clients, the IT Director and the company's offshore team. One of the key duties of the job is to be an interface between clients and CMG's offshore development team.

This position is client facing and mainly based on client sites in Sunbury-on-Thames, Kingston-upon-Thames and the surrounding area. Minimal travel to CMG's office in Vietnam and to Europe for training/seminars is possible.

CMG is a modest but ambitious company operating in the UK, Vietnam and Australia. We specialize in providing business solutions and bespoke software to high end clients including BP, Sun, Vodafone, Sony as well as local government.



Summary of responsibilities

The following is a summary of the Technical Business Analyst’s responsibilities but these will vary between projects and are adaptable.

  • Liaise with clients including putting forward proposals
  • Analyse clients’ existing systems
  • Requirements gathering and translation into highly specified project briefs
  • Work with Technical Analysts, IT Director and CMG's development team to identify potential solutions
  • Produce project feasibility reports
  • Assist with overseeing implementation of new systems
  • Draw up testing schedules for completed systems
  • Work with developers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
  • Assist with training users on new systems where necessary
  • Planning and working flexibly to deadlines
  • Write user manuals/guidelines


  • Required skills and experience

  • Enjoy working with self motivated teams on leading technology
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or similar discipline
  • 3 years experience as Technical or Business Analyst where you have gathered requirements
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of software development life cycles
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding/knowledge of process flows and user requirements capturing
  • Familiarity with Visio (diagram tools) and MS Excel abilities (Macros)
  • Highly self motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Creative personality preferably with ability to provide innovative solutions


  • Desired skills and experience

  • Any exposure to Mobile or Google tools
  • Object Orientated Analysis and design
  • Basic experience/knowledge of programming languages, preferably including Java and .NET
  • Exposure to social networking tools (blogs, wikis, RSS, twitter)
  • Familiarity with UML for use case diagrams and sequence diagrams
  • Exposure to SQL or reporting
  • Previously used a content management or document management system
